Media: Turkish parliament to approve application for Sweden’s accession to NATO at autumn session

The protocol on the admission of Sweden to NATO will be submitted to the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Türkiye in the near future, but it will most likely be approved at the autumn session, since the legislative assembly of the republic goes on summer holidays this week, SİA informs referring to CNN Turk.

The autumn session of the Turkish Parliament begins on October 1.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Lithuania, the Turkish leader agreed to send a protocol on Sweden's accession to the alliance to parliament as soon as possible.
