Turkish speaker comments on posibility of creating inter-parliamentary friendship group with Armenia
The Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Numan Kurtulmus, clarified the issue of establishing inter-parliamentary friendship groups with Egypt, Armenia and Syria, the countries that Ankara has political problems with.
He said in an interview with CNN Turk that his country has no problems with the people of the mentioned countries.
“Even at a time when relations between our countries are completely severed, the Turkish people do not see anyone as an enemy. Due to reasons beyond our control, there were times when tensions rose and dialogue did not continue. However, the people of each of these countries are our friends,” Kurtulmus said.
He said that Türkiye's expectation is the solution to the current tension within the interests of the nations: “In accordance with our interests, we are developing our relations taking into account the expectations of friendly and brotherly nations of those countries.”
According to the speaker, Türkiye is working on developing inter-parliamentary relations with the mentioned countries, normalization of relations, creation of friendship groups and mutual visits.
