There is no alternative to peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia - Russian Deputy PM
"We met in the format of a tripartite working group consisting of the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, and as a result, a comprehensive document was formed," Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk said in an interview with TASS, SİA reports.
He stated that the opening of transport links in the region will begin with the restoration of the railway that will go along the Arazdeyan-Julfa-Mehri-Horadiz route and will determine the main approaches based on respect for the sovereignty of the parties.
Overchuk also commented on the procedure for crossing the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"Individual parts of this road will be under the jurisdiction of each country. So, in relation to this road, the legislation of Azerbaijan will be applied in Azerbaijan, and the legislation of Armenia will be applied in Armenia. These are obvious, but taking into account the relations between the two states and peoples, all this should be conditioned. But armed clashes are still taking place on the border of the two countries and people are dying. Of course, it is very difficult for my colleagues to work in such conditions," said Overchuk.
There is no alternative to peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the best way to achieve peace is to open opportunities for people to interact in this way.
Overchuk said that our tripartite working group of deputy prime ministers has developed a unique format of relations.
