Education suspended in Astana due to heavy snowfall

Heavy snowfall, which started and continued at the weekend in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, brought life to a standstill.

In the statement made by the Astana Education Administration on Monday, it was noted that education was suspended in primary, secondary, high school and university 1st and 2nd grades due to adverse weather conditions.

Transportation was disrupted. Some flights were delayed at Astana's International Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport.

According to information obtained by SIA, more than 1,000 vehicles and 2,000 officials are trying to clear the city of snow.

Distance education has started in schools in Astana, where traffic has slowed down due to heavy rain. Astana Police Department reported that 144 traffic accidents occurred on the roads in the last 24 hours and two people were injured.

It has been announced that the snow falling in the capital will continue until tomorrow, and the temperature will rise suddenly from April 19.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, 15 highways in the country were closed to traffic.
