The European Union has expanded its blacklist against Russia, adding to it two legal entities - PMC Wagner and the Russian media resource Federal News Agency (RIA FAN), says the Official Journal of the EU, SIA refers to foreign media.
The EU believes that two legal entities should be added to the list of individuals, entities, organizations, and bodies subject to restrictive measures.
The European Union has imposed 10 packages of economic and individual sanctions against Moscow since the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. They apply to 1,500 individuals and 207 legal entities.
The board of the Federal News Agency is headed by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the PMC Wagner, and has been subject to restrictions by the European Union due to the propaganda of military operations and the "Wagner" group.
We add that Yevgeny Prigozhin is under the sanctions of the European Union, the United States and Canada. PMC is still under US sanctions since 2017. In February, the European Union imposed sanctions against 18 individuals and legal entities related to PMCs.
In addition, the US Treasury has recognized "Wagner" as a transnational criminal organization.
However, interestingly, the White House refuses to recognize PMCs as a terrorist group.
