Lithuania may oblige civil servants to declare ties with Russia, Belarus

The Lithuanian Parliament proposes to oblige civil servants to declare ties with Russia and Belarus. The purpose of such actions is to encourage these people to abandon business relations with Moscow and Minsk, Head of the Parliamentary Committee for National Security and Defense of Lithuania Laurynas Kasciunas said, SİA informs referring to Delfi.

The MP linked his initiative to the ongoing war in Ukraine and raised the question of whether economic ties with Russia and Belarus support the economies of these countries.

“Responsibility for Russia’s war in Ukraine also lies with Belarus. Since the beginning of the war, Russia has been using the territory of Belarus, deploying its military there,” the politician explained.

If Kasciunas’ proposal is accepted, then persons declaring public and personal interests will have to indicate information about the activities of legal entities associated with them in Russia or Belarus, as well as contacts with legal entities and individuals in these countries.
