Russian businessmen to complain to Putin about increasing role of state in economy

At a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, leading members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) intend to express concern about the growing role of the state in the Russian economy, SIA refers to Bloomberg.

Businessmen will insist on the liberalization of the business environment.

According to the publication, the meeting of the head of state with the RSPP will take place on March 16.

The President intends to focus on reviving economic growth, as well as the responsibility of entrepreneurs. It is possible that the event will touch upon the issue of a voluntary one-time contribution of enterprises to the Russian budget. Earlier, the initiative to introduce such a fee was taken by the government.

The entrepreneurs themselves, who will participate in the meeting, intend to focus on the influence of the authorities on the economy, as well as insist on steps to liberalize the business environment. Among the latter may be the decriminalization of certain economic crimes - including money laundering.

Vladimir Putin’s plans to meet with representatives of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were announced in the Kremlin on February 14.

The event could be the first meeting between the president and entrepreneurs since February 24, 2022.

According to “Kommersant FM”, this may be the first meeting between the president and entrepreneurs since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
