Turkish FM addressed participants at 26th meeting of OIC Council of Ministers
"Turkiye will continue to do its part to make the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) more effective and to get the share it deserves in the world economy."
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlud Çavuşoğlu said, while addressing the participants at the 26th meeting of the OIC Council of Ministers held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, SIA refers to Turkish media.
Saying that they recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of the expansion of the OIC, Çavuşoğlu emphasized that with the expansion, the OIC has become the main platform for economic cooperation in the region.
The global economy is currently facing great difficulties. It is important to strengthen economic cooperation in order to overcome these difficulties," Çavuşoğlu said.
Paying attention to the foreign relations of the OIC, the FM said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is among the 3 observers of the OIC under the name "Turkish State of Cyprus".
"The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is 'the most active observer' in the contributions to the joint work of the OIC," the Minister said the Turkish Cypriots have been participating in all high-level meetings of the OIC for 11 years.
Çavuşoğlu also thanked Uzbekistan for its successful next chairmanship.
"Turkey will continue to do its part to make the OIC more effective and get the share it deserves in the world economy," said Çavuşoğlu.
He emphasized that Turkiye will strengthen the OIC with a strong will in this difficult global environment, and that they have shown this will for progress today.
Minister Cavusoglu also met with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertogruloglu and Uzbekistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Bahtiyar Saidov as part of his meetings in Uzbekistan.
