Ukraine loses 90 percent of its wind energy production

Ukraine has confirmed 90 percent loss of wind energy production in the country, the Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushenko said in a statement, SIA reports.

The Minister also noted the country's loss of up to 40 percent of its solar energy production.

"The main task facing us now is to finish the autumn-winter season. However, the load on the energy obtained from thermal power plants will remain throughout the year. We have lost approximately 90 percent of wind energy production and 40 percent of solar energy production," said the minister.

In December last year, the Ukrainian government announced that 50 percent of the country's energy infrastructure had been destroyed.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal, also stated that 40 percent of all TPP, HPP and high-voltage network facilities were damaged to varying degrees, and that there will be restrictions on electricity consumption in the country during the winter season.
