The adoption of France's pro-Armenian statement in the UN has been prevented.
SİA informs, citing Caliber.Az, that immediately after the discussions on December 20-21, France, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and currently as its chairman - permanent and non-permanent members act as chairman for one month each, prepared an absolutely pro-Armenian statement, in which the situation on the Lachin-Khankandi road is presented as a humanitarian disaster.
The diplomatic battle over the text of the statement continued for 10 days!
From the French side, the process was directly led by the administration of the President of France and Macron's foreign policy advisers.
France believed that it would submit the pro-Armenian statement to the UN Security Council, and then, as a next step, turn it into a resolution.
It is no coincidence that Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan recently identified the adoption of a statement in the UN Security Council as one of Armenia's priority goals.
Yerevan and Paris stubbornly tried to replay the situation on the Lachin road through international structures, in particular, the UN.
France, a permanent member of the UN Security Council and currently the chairman of the Security Council, has not been able to issue a statement on the situation on the Lachin road for 10 days. First, the words "Nagorno-Karabakh" were removed from the pro-Armenian statement. Then it was prescribed that humanitarian assistance can only be based on respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Further, such expressions as support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan were introduced there.
Official Baku, with the help of its partners, managed to soften the text of the statement so much that after its 6th or 7th edition, it became de facto pro-Azerbaijani, and official Paris completely rejected it! The Department of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of the French Presidential Administration is in complete hysteria - the initially pro-Armenian draft statement was turned upside down by Azerbaijani diplomats, so much that the French had to abandon their original idea altogether!
According to Caliber.Az, the French authorities are so furious with the failure at the UN that today they are already talking about recalling the French permanent representative to the UN and his deputy.
