Russia to lift ban on 'unfriendly' Western countries

The ban on Russian insurance companies concluding contracts with insurance companies of "unfriendly" Western countries on the export of food and fertilizers has been removed, SIA refers to foreign media.

According to Russian press, the decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin aims to provide easier access to the insurance services of Russian food and fertilizer exporters, especially the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement.

According to the decree, which will come into force in January 2023, the ban on Russian insurance companies concluding contracts with insurance companies in unfriendly countries for the export of food and fertilizers has been removed.

To solve the global food crisis, the grain transportation agreement was signed between Ukraine, Russia, Turkiye and the United Nations under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on July 22, coordinated by Ankara.

As a result of the quadrilateral negotiations hosted by Turkiye, the term of the agreement was extended by 120 days from November 19.
