The Ukrainian side opposed the temporary ceasefire in Ukraine for the New Year, the Deputy Chief of the General Operations Department of the General Staff of the Ukrainian troops Alexey Gromov said in a statement, SIA refers to Russian media.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, stated that no proposal had been received from Kiev regarding the issue of a New Year's ceasefire. Before that, Peskov said the withdrawal of the troops of the Russian troops from Ukraine on Christmas was "out of the question".
He added that in order to achieve peace, it is necessary to take into account the new realities of the inclusion of new regions into the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar warned that Ukrainians will face new mobilization after the New Year. According the minister, currently there are many wounded in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who need to be replaced.
