Istanbul Strait maritime traffic returns to normal after suspension

Maritime traffic through the Istanbul Strait has returned to normal after a container ship malfunctioned, SIA reports, citing Turkish media.

The Turkish-flagged Kappa, which experienced machinery failure earlier in the day, was safely anchored in the Ahirkapi Anchorage by rescue vessels on Saturday.

Maritime traffic through the Istanbul Strait was suspended early Saturday after a ship sailing from Istanbul to the Russian city of Novorossiysk malfunctioned.

Kappa, a 147-meter-long (482-foot-long) container ship, suffered a machine failure, Türkiye’s Directorate General of Coastal Safety said on Twitter.
