Sweden donates 10.2 million dollars to Iraq

Sweden has donated 10.2 million dollars to Iraq to support its efforts to reduce the effects of climate change, SIA refers to Turkish media.

Iraq's INA news agency reported that, the official of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, Misak Abdulhossein, was quoted saying: "Sweden supports Iraq within the framework of international aid to the countries most affected by climate change."

Abdulhussain said the $10.2 million donation will be used to help people living in the central and southern regions of the country develop smart agriculture programs, improve water use and support farmers' struggles.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative for Iraq, Salah al-Haj Hasan, said that the agreement on the donation was signed in the capital, Baghdad, in the presence of Sweden's ambassador to Baghdad, Jessica Svardstrom.
