The UK’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, shared a post on X celebrating Azerbaijani judoka Zelym Kotsoiev’s victory as the Olympic champion at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, SİA informs.
“Zelym Kotsoiev added the second gold medal to Azerbaijan's medal tally with his spectacular performance. Azerbaijani Judokas create miracles in Paris,” reads the post.
Notably, Zelym Kotsoiev, the world champion in the 100 kg weight class, faced Georgian Ilia Sulamanidze in the final round. By defeating his opponent, Kotsoiev secured the Olympic championship.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will conclude on August 11. Earlier, Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) secured a gold medal.
