Victory Day celebrated in Rotterdam city, Netherlands

A festive event dedicated to Victory Day was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 8.

According to SIA, the event organized by the Congress of Benelux Azerbaijanis at the office of the "Garabagh" sports club began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and the commemoration of our martyrs who died for the liberation of our lands from occupation and the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country with a minute's silence.

Then a film dedicated to the brilliant Victory achieved by the Azerbaijan Armed Forces in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev was shown to the audience.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Congress of Benelux Azerbaijanis (BAK) Elsever Mammadov and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Netherlands, Sabina Sadigli, congratulated our diaspora and our people on the occasion of the great holiday. Two years ago, the events that brought great joy to our people, and the heroism of Azerbaijani soldiers, were noted. Mammadov also congratulated the fraternal Turkish people on behalf of the Azerbaijani community in the Netherlands on the 99th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. The entertainment part of the event was opened by the children's musical theater group "Baby Seedlings" operating in Haarlem. The group performed poems and songs dedicated to Victory Day. On the occasion of the holiday, the members of "Korpe fidanlar" were given gifts. The concert program was continued by Ilham Babayev, head of the BAK Council of Elders, Frangiz Bagirova and Nematagha Aliyev, members of "Odlar Yurdu" Association. The musicians performed Azerbaijani folk songs and works of world composers.

During the event, the book "Het geheim van Karabakh" ("The Secret of Karabakh"), written by 11-year-old author, Nisa Mirzazade, was presented to the Congress of Benelux Azerbaijanis.

The event ended with chanting of "Long live the Azerbaijani Army!", "Long live the victorious people of Azerbaijan!" slogans.
