The members of the Ombudsman's National Preventive Group (MPG) made unannounced visits to orphanages No. 1 and 2.
The purpose of the visits is to ensure the rights of children of different age groups, eliminate the deficiencies identified during the previous visits, and study the implementation status of the given recommendations, including legal awareness measures within the framework of the "Children's Rights Month" announced by the Ombudsman, covering the dates October 20 - November 20. was held.
During the visits, the entire territory of the mentioned enterprises was inspected, the current situation and documentation related to the organization of social services were examined. In order to investigate behavioral issues, individual interviews were conducted with the management of the enterprise, employees and children.
Overcrowding was observed in both institutions, and deficiencies related to medical care were eliminated in orphanage No. 2.
In addition to the visit, during the trainings held with the participation of children, as well as psychologists and educators in both institutions, the employees of the Children's Rights Protection Sector of the Ombudsman's Office were also provided with information about the existing normative legal acts on children's rights and legal protection tools. Discrimination and methods of combating it, protection of children from exploitation, abuse, neglect and violence, early marriage, child labor, and protection from harmful effects were touched upon as well.
The training was held in the form of a discussion with the active participation of children. The clidren's opinions were heard, and their questions were answered.
In the end, the management and responsible employees of the institution were given recommendations in accordance with the national legislation and international documents regarding the conditions of detention, medical care and documentation.
