Hot weather to persist until August 20

The hot weather conditions are expected to persist across the country until August 20. Moderate southeastern wind will blow.

SİA informs citing the National Hydrometeorological Service that the maximum air temperature is predicted to rise to 35-39C in Baku and the Absheron peninsula, 40C in some places, 35-40C in the regions, 41-42C in some parts of Central Aran and Nakhchivan AR, and 27-32C in the mountainous areas.

On August 14, the air temperature in the country was 3.8C higher than the climate normal. Thus, the maximum temperature reached 38.5C in Baku and the Absheron peninsula and 40.3 degrees in the lowland regions. According to long-term observations, the maximum temperature in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula in recent years was recorded on August 9, 2017, at 42.6C.
