Opening ceremony of the 3rd Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held in Shusha

On August 2, the 3rd Summer Camp project of "Shusha-270" Diaspora Youth was launched.

According to SIA, a ceremonial welcoming ceremony of 116 camp participants representing 52 countries took place in the center of Shusha city.

Then the ceremonial opening ceremony of the camp was held. Maftun Abbasov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Shusha City State Reserve Department, welcomed the guests and assessed the gathering of our youth living abroad and representatives of countries friendly to Azerbaijan in the ancient city in the "Year of Shusha" as a positive event.

Fuad Muradov, the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, spoke about the historical importance of holding the Diaspora Youth Summer Camp in our cultural capital, the pearl of Karabakh. Recalling that a few months ago, on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis was organized in Shusha, which was liberated from occupation, the Chairman of the Committee said that the summer camp project was aimed at maintaining relations with the historical homeland of our head of state, visiting Azerbaijan from time to time, not forgetting his mother tongue, the history of Azerbaijan, is in accordance with the recommendations regarding the study of culture and the promotion of Azerbaijani truths together with the diasporas of friendly nations.

Emphasizing that dozens of our compatriots living abroad came to their historical homeland within the framework of this large-scale project, the Chairman of the Committee gave detailed information about the nature of the camp, its place and goals in the diaspora policy of the state, and wished success to the participants. He said that Diaspora Youth Summer Camps have gained great popularity among young Azerbaijanis living both inside the country and abroad.

Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Gayibov, Executive Director of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Jafarov, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nigar Hajiyeva and others spoke at the event. The speakers pointed out that the camp played an invaluable role in the strengthening of the Azerbaijani diaspora movement, in the formation of a new generation of the diaspora, especially in the networking of young people living abroad.

The 3rd Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth is organized jointly by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Youth Fund, the State Tourism Agency and the Shusha City State Reserve Department. The project implemented within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev's Decree of January 5, 2022 "On declaring 2022 as the "Year of Shusha" in the Republic of Azerbaijan" serves the purpose of bringing together young Azerbaijanis living in various countries around the world to a single platform and getting to know Azerbaijan more closely.

Summer Camp will end on August 8.
