30th anniversary of Azerbaijani-Italian diplomatic relations celebrated in Rome - PHOTOS

A festive event was held in Rome on May 28 - Independence Day and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy.

According to the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy and Azerbaijani community, the event was attended by the President of the Senate of the Italian Republic Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Chairman of the "Living Italy" party Ettore Rosato, Minister of Family Affairs Elena Bonetti, senators and deputies, commission chairmen, members of the European Parliament from Italy, representatives of various government agencies, diplomatic corps, business, culture, academia and the media.

After the national anthems of the two countries, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Mammad Ahmadzade and Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Ettore Rosato gave speeches. Importance of Independence Day in the history of Azerbaijan, 104 years ago, on May 28, 1918, for the first time in the Muslim East, it was Azerbaijan that established a democratic and secular state -The establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the unparalleled services of the founder of the modern Azerbaijani state, national leader Heydar Aliyev in maintaining and strengthening the state independence restored in the autumn of 1991, the strategic line of President Ilham Aliyev raised Azerbaijan's international prestige and made our country a leader in the region. The guests were informed that as a result of the war, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was restored and prospects for the establishment of lasting peace in the region were opened.

During the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, our relations have reached a high level as a multidimensional strategic partnership. The importance of the official visits of the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Azerbaijan Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati to Azerbaijan was also discussed.

Describing President Ilham Aliyev's initiative to establish an Italian-Azerbaijani University in Baku as one of the main pillars of future cooperation, Ettore Rosato shared his impressions of the visit of the first Italian parliamentary delegation from the West to the liberated territories in December 2020. "Azerbaijan is a leader in ensuring peace in the region and is a strategic ally of Italy," said the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.

The event continued with a concert titled "Notes of Friendship" performed by Azerbaijani composer-pianist Kamala Alizade and Italian composer-guitarist Stefano Muscaritolo. The performance of works by well-known Azerbaijani and Italian composers, as well as musicians, such as "Sarı gelin", "Ay Lachin", "Gozelim sensen", "Shusha uzerinde uchmag", "Cennetim Qarabagh" was met with applause by the audience.
