Azerbaijan-Bulgaria relations keep developing

A "round table" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan-Bulgaria diplomatic relations was held on April 22 at the Bulgarian Language and Culture Center of Baku Slavic University (BSU). The faculty and students of Bulgarian studies took part in the "round table" held as part of a series of events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the countries taught at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, majoring in "Regional Studies".

Opening the event, BSU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Rafig Novruzov spoke about the importance of Azerbaijani-Bulgarian diplomatic relations. He said that these relations were officially established on June 5, 1992.

Novruzov stressed the successful development of bilateral relations in science, education and culture, the great role of Baku Slavic University in the development of these relations, and the successful teaching of the Bulgarian language at the university.

Speaking at the event, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of BSU, Associate Professor Sevda Akhundova spoke about the teaching of Bulgarian studies at the university. She noted that the teaching of Bulgarian studies in the specialty "Regional Studies" at the faculty she headed began in 2004: "Since that year, the Bulgarian Language and Culture Center has been operating at BSU. The center was established with the assistance of the Bulgarian Embassy in Azerbaijan. The center was inaugurated on October 7, 2004 with the participation of the President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov. ”

Speaking at the event, Head of the Department of International Relations of BSU, Associate Professor Habil Mammadov spoke about the dynamics of development of relations between the two countries in modern times. At the round table, Bulgarian senior teachers of the Department of Slavic Philology of BSU Bisserka Veleva and Irina Pchelintsina spoke about cultural events initiated by the two countries and the teaching of the Bulgarian language in Azerbaijan.

Professor Vugar Rahimzadeh, Head of the Journalism Department of BSU, emphasized that the event was dedicated to a very interesting topic: “The lectures made here are very interesting for students. At the round table, we got acquainted with the processes on the eve of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as well as quite rich statistical facts in the field of deepening political, economic, humanitarian and cultural ties. I think that students will remember this information in a continuous and systematic way. This is one of the most important factors in their formation as good professionals in the future. ”

Rahimzade stated that the Baku Slavic University is the beginning of a very good tradition for every teacher and student: "I propose to hold an essay competition among students studying in Bulgarian on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, jointly organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Azerbaijan and Baku Slavic University. Arrange a trip to Bulgaria for the winning student. It would also help our students master the Bulgarian language better. ”
