The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan pays special attention to the acquisition of experience in the field of human rights by young professionals.
According to the Ombudsman's press service, for this purpose, conditions are created for students and masters studying in relevant specialties to undergo production and research internships in the Ombudsman's Office.
At present, on the basis of appeals received by the Ombudsman's Office from Baku State University (BSU), Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and the Western Caspian University (WAC), students and masters of these universities are gradually involved in production and research practice.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in our country, as in the rest of the world, an agreement has been reached to organize production and research experiments in a hybrid format.
During the internship, the trainees received general information about the institution and listened to online lectures on the Constitutional Law “On the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, the Office of the Ombudsman and regional centers. At the same time, during the sessions organized on the ZOOM platform, senior officials of the institution gave detailed information to students and masters about the Commissioner's activities in the field of protection of human rights, as well as the rules of consideration of citizens' appeals, protection of the right to information, cooperation with international organizations and civil society institutions.
Afterwards, students and masters continuing their internships in various departments and sectors of the institution got acquainted with the Ombudsman's specialized library on human rights and had the opportunity to use the necessary information on the selected topics for graduation and master's dissertations.
At the end of the internship, the trainees were presented with testimonials by the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, and recommended to continue cooperation in various forms in the future on legal education of the population, development of legal thinking and legal culture.
