Azerbaijani airports serve about 350,000 passengers

In March 2022, about 350,000 people used the services of Azerbaijan's international airports. This is about twice as much as a year ago, SIA reports.

In general, the flow of passengers at all airports since the beginning of the year amounted to 886,000 people. Most of them are passengers arriving and departing through the Heydar Aliyev International Airport - their share is 79%.

Since the beginning of the year, the main carriers of Baku Airport - AZAL and Buta Airways - have served 279,000 and 86,000 passengers, respectively, which is 40% and 12% of the total number of passengers served, respectively.

In March 2022, 25 foreign airlines operated regular flights to Baku airport.

Istanbul, Dubai, Moscow, Tbilisi, Ankara, Izmir, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Kuwait and Doha are among the 10 most popular destinations from Baku in March.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (IATA: GYD) is the largest airport in Azerbaijan and the region in terms of passenger and cargo traffic, landing operations, the area of ​​the airport complex and the capacity of the cargo complex.

In 2021, Heydar Aliyev International Airport was awarded the highest "5 star" rating on epidemiological safety during the COVID-19 pandemic by the international air transport rating agency Skytrax.

This is the highest assessment of the effectiveness of COVID-19 measures applied at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport to protect passengers and employees from the spread of coronavirus infection.
