A commemorative event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Aghdaban Genocide was held at the Nizami Cinema Center jointly organized by the New Azerbaijan Party's Kalbajar District Organization and the Ashig Shamshir Cultural Center Public Union.

The event was attended by state and government officials, members of the board of the New Azerbaijan Party, MPs, employees of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party and representatives of the public.

First of all, the freedom of our lands, territorial integrity and the memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Aghdaban genocide were commemorated with a minute of silence. A video dedicated to the Aghdaban genocide was shown. Member of the Board of the New Azerbaijan Party, MP Musa Guliyev said that this year marks 30 years since the Aghdaban tragedy committed by Armenian invaders against our people. The Aghdaban tragedy is a clear indication that Armenian executioners are still not satisfied with Turkish and Azerbaijani blood after the Khojaly events. One of such acts of genocide is the crimes committed against our people by Armenian gangs in the villages and settlements of Kalbajar, the charming corner of Karabakh, the eternal land of Azerbaijan. The truths that have been kept secret for many years are being revealed, and the distorted events are gaining their true form. The history of our people, who played a special role in world history, is being rewritten and presented to the international community.

Chairman of the Ashig Shamshir Cultural Center, Aghdaban resident Javid Gurbanov said that commemorative ceremonies are organized by the state every year to commemorate the victims of the Aghdaban tragedy and bring it to the attention worldwide. On the night of April 7-8, 1992, Armenian gangs brought a terrible tragedy to the residents of Aghdaban village. I grew up in Aghdaban, the land of Dada Shamshir. Armenians plundered our country, the manuscripts of Dada Shamshir. They committed atrocities in Aghdaban to check if they could plunder Kalbajar. Aghdaban village of Kalbajar region, consisting of 130 houses, was completely burnt down by Armenian separatists, 779 civilians of the village were subjected to inhuman torture. 33 people were killed, 8 people aged 90-100, 2 children, 7 women were burnt alive, 2 people were missing, 12 people were seriously injured. It was a ruthless and inhuman calamity for the inhabitants of a village.

Manuscripts of poet Aghdabanli Gurban and Dada Shamshir, one of the masters of classical ashug poetry, were destroyed as another manifestation of the policy of vandalism committed by Armenians against the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Today, the tragedies brought to our people are conveyed to the world community and given a legal and political assessment by President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. Thankfully, the victims of the Aghdaban genocide were avenged in the 44-day Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020 under the leadership of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev against the next provocations of the enemy and ended with a historic victory at the expense of our martyrs and veterans. Today we are victorious people, and a victorious country. As someone from Kalbajar, I am also proud to have seen our homeland. I am happy that I was able to take my father to those lands before he died.

Vagif Aliyev, the father of Lieutenant-Colonel Shahid Anar Aliyev, who was awarded the title of "Hero of the Patriotic War", said he was proud that his son Anar, born in 1980 in Kalbajar region, also played a role in this victory and revenge for our martyrs. I raised my son from childhood with a sense of patriotism and a national spirit. When my son chose the military profession, I believed that he for sure would show heroism. Because his birthplace was under occupation. Anar always lived with a sense of vengeance. The greatest goal for us was the freedom of our lands. On behalf of the families of martyrs and veterans, we express our respect and esteem to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and his wife, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, for the extensive attention and care shown to us. Major of the Special Forces, Commander of one of the first 3 battalions to enter Shusha, Saleh Hasanov, who was awarded the title of "Hero of the Patriotic War" by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, said that today the souls of our martyrs were pleased. Along with the Khojaly executioners, Aghdaban murderers were also punished by our heroic sons in the battlefield. We are also confident that our neighbor, who fell into disgrace as a result of the lesson given to them by the victorious Azerbaijani army in the 44-day war, not only will never commit any such atrocities against our people, as the Mr.President have said, will not even dare to look at us again!
