The Azerbaijani army continues to participate in international peacekeeping operations and is currently carrying out a mission in South Sudan, Major General Elchin Abdullayev, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, said, as quoted by Report.
Speaking during the presentation of a report on the Azerbaijani army's peacekeeping operations, jointly prepared with the Center of Analysis of International Relations, Abdullayev stressed that the Azerbaijani army has contributed to strengthening international peace and stability for many years.
"The Azerbaijani army has carried out peacekeeping operations in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. It is currently conducting a mission in South Sudan. Azerbaijan's efforts are highly appreciated by international organizations. They also reflect the growing reputation of the Azerbaijani army and create new opportunities for cooperation," the major general said.
Abdullayev added that reforms in the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev are continuing.
