Azerbaijan clears over 270,000 hectares of mined land

More than 270,000 hectares of land in Azerbaijan's liberated territories have been cleared of mines since November 2020, with over 250,000 mines and unexploded ordnance detected and neutralized, according to ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action) Chairman Vugar Suleymanov, SİA informs.

Speaking at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum 13, Suleymanov highlighted the scale of the demining efforts in the region.

He stressed that the mine threat is not limited to Azerbaijan and continues to slow reconstruction processes, restrict development opportunities, and endanger civilian safety in many countries around the world.

"That is why today's platform is of particular importance," he said. "Addressing the mine problem cannot be limited to national efforts alone. It requires sustainable international support, partnerships, innovative approaches, and the sharing of advanced experience."
