A proposal has been put forward in Azerbaijan to grant independent status to legal practice at the legislative level.
According to SİA, relevant amendments to the Law "On Lawyers and Legal Practice" are currently under consideration in the Milli Majlis (Parliament).
The draft law has already been discussed by members of the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building at today"s meeting.
Under the proposed amendments, legal practice will be recognized as an independent legal activity and may only be carried out by qualified lawyers.
The aim is to ensure professional protection of the rights of individuals, legal entities, and state bodies (institutions).
According to the current legislation, the right to engage in legal practice is granted only to members of the Bar Association after they have taken an oath.
