Chines New Year celebrated in Baku

The Chinese New Year, known as the Spring Festival, has been celebrated in Baku.

Report informs that the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan organized a festive event on this occasion.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, China's Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, Ding Tao, emphasized that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, China-Azerbaijan relations have reached an unprecedented level.

Ding Tao noted that Chinese New Year resembles Azerbaijan's Novruz holiday in many aspects, as both celebrations pay special attention to family values and traditions.

"In the New Year, the Chinese side strives to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan, strengthen intercultural exchange, and make new contributions to strengthening strategic partnership. 2025 is the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese lunar calendar. In many cultures, the snake symbolizes health and wisdom, which is also reflected in the World Health Organization's emblem. I am confident that the Year of the Snake will bring us more opportunities and hopes," the chargé d'affaires stated.

The event provided participants with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with China's rich culture and traditions.

The Chinese New Year will begin on January 29.
