Baku hosted an event themed “Azerbaijani National Press-149". The event started with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan. The memory of Azerbaijani martyrs, who gave their lives for the country’s territorial integrity was honored with observing a minute of silence.
The event was co-organized by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Media Development Agency and Azerbaijan Press Council.
Addressing the event, Daghbeyi Ismayilov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Media Development Agency, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), emphasized that the "Akinchi" newspaper was published in the Azerbaijani language 149 years ago. The editor and publisher of the newspaper Hasan Bay Zardabi laid the foundation of the Azerbaijani national press, which over the next 149 years, despite the difficulties, has experienced a rapid development building on this foundation.
“National Leader Heydar Aliyev has made a great contribution to the development of Azerbaijani media. He was a real friend of journalists and promoted the development of the press,” Daghbeyi Ismayilov noted.
“Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan triumphed in the Patriotic War. During the war, the Azerbaijani press worthily performed its duty, bringing the realities of the war to the world community and achieving great success in this activity. Today the Azerbaijani press is successfully developing," the Chairman of the Supervisory Board added.
Other speakers also included Rashad Majid, Chairman of the Press Council, Bakhtiyar Garaja, member of the Audiovisual Council, Vugar Zifaroglu, member of the Supervisory Board of the Media Development Agency, Sabina Seyidova, Head of the media analytical department of the Media Development Agency, Mehriban Mammadova, Head of the media support projects and strategic planning department of the Agency and the representatives of "AzerGold" JSC.
Then, the results of the competition organized by the Media Development Agency on the theme "Green World Solidarity Year" and the results of the Creative Media Baku content competition held within the "MEDIAlab" project were announced and the winners were awarded.
