“160 new electric buses will be brought to Baku and put into use before the COP29 event,” said Anar Rzayev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), in his statement to journalists, APA reports.
He said that at the beginning of the year, 200 new buses were put into use in the capital city, and another 200 buses will be put into use soon.
“In total, 360 buses are planned to be put into use in Baku. I would like to mention that AYNA has developed a new network for bus transport in Baku. This network is simulated in a digital twin of the city. Currently, the implementation of the network has started. The first five routes have already been commissioned. These are the routes connecting the remote areas of the city with the center. They are routes operating from Hovsan and Mardakan. These routes will gradually be put into use again by conducting a competition in accordance with the legislation.”
