In commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the April 30 tragedy, a tree planting event was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ADNSU).

Trees were planted in the university courtyard in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragedy, the higher education institution told SIA.

A QR code placed on a plaque in front of the tree allows visitors to access detailed information about the victims and survivors of the April 30 massacre on the ADNSU website.

During the event, ADNSU's acting rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, spoke about the April 30 tragedy. He emphasized that the event, where the lives of many valuable teachers and students of the university were lost, was not only a tragedy for ADNSU students and staff but also a tragedy for Azerbaijan's education and humanity as a whole.

Askarov noted that for the past 15 years, a commemorative event has been held at the university every April 30, with the participation of families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the tragedy, ensuring their memory is always honored, and this tradition will continue.

Witnesses and survivors of the tragedy, including Zemfira Huseynli, a lecturer at ADNSU's Department of Industrial Machinery, Xuraman Mammadova, the parent of Shafa Mammadova, a university staff member who lost her life in the tragedy, as well as parents of deceased students and university staff who witnessed the tragedy, shared their emotions about that fateful day.
