ADA University starts implementation of project related to 'Great Return'

ADA University, together with the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, has started the implementation of the project "Conducting a sociological survey among internally displaced persons and preparing preliminary forecasts in order to ensure the return and reintegration of the population to the territories liberated from occupation" from September.

ADA University informed that the project is based on the order of the State Committee for Refugees and Forced Displaced Persons, SIA refers to AZERTAC.

The return of the population based on the sociological survey of the priority direction of the "1st State Program for the Great Return to the territories liberated from occupation of the Republic of Azerbaijan" of the Action Plan "Return of the population and creation of sustainable communities in the territories" activity direction "Organization of reintegration measures for the adaptation of the population to new living conditions" is carried out in order to ensure the preparation of preliminary forecasts. Within the framework of the project, IDPs' opinions and suggestions regarding the Great Return, as well as their reintegration needs and potential will be studied. In this regard, it is planned to organize "focus group" discussions with the participation of IDPs representing different socio-demographic groups.

Fariz Ismayilzadeh, vice-rector of ADA University, director of the Institute of Development and Diplomacy, who heads the project, said that "focus group" discussions will play an important role in the development of effective strategies and policies in the process of the Great Return. The scientific leader of the project, the general director of the Institute of Economics, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli.

In order to ensure more effective implementation of the project, a meeting was held on September 19 at ADA University with representatives of various state institutions (ministry, special representation, agency, committee, etc.), deputies, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations. During the meeting, the members of the Research Group and the invited representatives from relevant institutions discussed the issues of effective organization of "focus group" discussions. Opinions were also exchanged regarding the experience and observations obtained in the previous phase of the project. It was stated that the project will provide significant results for predicting the next stage of voluntary, dignified and safe return of former IDPs to their native lands.

It was added that the opinions and offers of the meeting participants will be taken into account when preparing the final proposals and recommendations.
