Pashinyan: First attempt to stop war was made on October 7 when Putin was congratulated on his birthday

"When I called on October 7 to congratulate the Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday, the first attempt was made to stop the war with Azerbaijan. Putin said he wants to make mediation efforts to stop the war. I read the terms and said I agree. We believed that the ceasefire should be reached without any preconditions," said Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at the meeting of the parliamentary commission investigating the circumstances of the military operations that took place in the 44-Day War, SİA reports.

According to him, he had a repeat dialogue with Putin that evening, and he said that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev did not agree with this: "The next day, Putin stated that President Ilham Aliyev put forward a condition: Fuzuli should be surrendered without a fight, and the Armenian Armed Forces should withdraw in the direction of along Araz River to the Khudafarin reservoir, and those areas should be under the control of Azerbaijan.

Note that currently the meeting of the commission on the investigation of the 44-day War is being held in the Armenian Parliament with the participation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. A number of high-ranking military and political figures were also invited to the meeting.
