Azerbaijan honors memory of January 20 tragedy victims by minute of silence

The road traffic in Azerbaijan was stopped in the afternoon for one minute in memory of the victims of the January 20 tragedy, SİA informs.

Ships in Baku Bay, cars on the roads, and trains honked in memory of the victims of the bloody events.

State flags are flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning.

On January 20, 1990, a bloody massacre was committed against civilians who had taken to the streets and squares in protest at Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan and the biased policy of the former USSR leadership.

January 20, 1990 became a heroic page in the history of the struggle for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Despite that years have passed since these bloody events, the Azerbaijani people never forget that terrible night, expressing their deep hatred for those who committed this tragedy.
