YAP holds event titled "The role of young people in the fight against drug addiction" in Sumgayit city
In accordance with the Joint Action Plan for 2022 signed by the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking, and "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" Closed Joint Stock Company an educational event on "The role of young people in the fight against drug addiction" was held at the YAP Sumgayit city organization.
SIA reports that Ramiz Huseynov, chairman of the YAP Sumgayit city organization and member of the party's Board of Directors, opening the event with an introductory speech, said that the fight against drug addiction is extremely important in terms of the formation of a healthy society. The scourge of drug addiction, known as "white death" in society, creates many complications in human life. According to him, there is a systematic fight against drug addiction in Azerbaijan. The event was also held in accordance with the implementation of the "2019-2024 State Program on Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and Combating Drug Addiction" approved by our head of state.
Zakiya Musayeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Gender Policy and Youth Work of the YAP Central Office, said that the fight against drug addiction and its prevention is not only an important issue, but also one of the most important factors in the development of healthy youth. According to her, awareness measures should be continuous so that young people stay away from such addictions. The role of aware, knowledgeable youth's ability in helping their other peers to move away from harmful habits is undeniable.
Teymur Samadov, the first deputy head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority, the chairman of the commission to combat drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking, which operates under the head of the City Executive Authority, Teymur Samadov, spoke about the role of national legislation in the fight against drug addiction. Samadov noted that in 1996, the great leader Heydar Aliyev signed a decree dedicated to the fight against drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking. In 1999, the Milli Majlis adopted the Law "On Combating the Illegal Trafficking of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances". President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has approved several state programs in this direction. The Chairman pointed out that all the conditions have been created for the efficient organization of leisure time and sports for young people in Sumgait city. This is an important factor for the youth to stay away from harmful habits.
In connection with the implementation of the "2019-2024 State Program on Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and Combating Drug Addiction" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party, "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasts" Closed Joint Stock Company, the permanent working group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs signed a joint Action Plan for 2022.
Within the framework of the Action Plan, round tables, sports competitions, cultural and mass events are being held in this direction in order to raise awareness in the field of combating drug addiction.
