“Recently, videos on the destruction of Azerbaijani graveyards by radical Armenians have been shared,” Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told SİA.
These footages, where acts of vandalism are committed against the graves of Azerbaijanis with insulting expressions, and gravestones are destroyed by trucks, are another clear example of the policy of destroying Azerbaijani heritage carried out by Armenia for many years.
“As it is known, Armenia committed unprecedented destruction in Karabakh and surrounding regions, which were kept under occupation for about 30 years by it, razed historical-religious monuments to ground, carried out vandalism acts against cemeteries, thus, tried to remove signs of Azerbaijanis in these areas completely, besides purposeful destruction of historical, cultural, religious heritage belonging to Azerbaijanis, who settled in its territory historically. Facts regarding illegal activity by Armenia, as well as regarding acts of urbicide, ecocide, and culturicide committed by it, have been gathered and submitted to international organizations,” noted.
It has been noted that Armenian population, who illegally settled in Azerbaijani territories, damaged infrastructure, monuments, environment while leaving Azerbaijani territories even after the end of military operations.
