On October 13, the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis met with the delegation of the evaluation mission of the World Health Organization on the certification of malaria elimination in Azerbaijan, SIA reports.
Chairman of the health committee, Ahliman Amiraslanov, welcomed the guests and spoke about the achievements in the fight against the malaria epidemic in Azerbaijan. Ahliman Amiraslanov informed the guests about the state programs adopted in this field, as well as the measures taken in Azerbaijan's health care and the opportunities created for the development of medicine due to the direct care of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva in the direction of protecting citizens' health.
The members of the health committee, Soltan Mammadov and Sadagat Valiyeva, spoke about the successful cooperation of Azerbaijan with the World Health Organization (WHO), and thanked the guests for this effective cooperation. Deputies talked about the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan's health care, the great support provided by the state, and pointed out that the parliament of Azerbaijan is also sensitive to the current issues of health care.
Elkhan Gasimov, head of the Malaria Elimination Department of the Global Malaria Program of the World Health Organization Headquarters, Kis Carter, the head of the delegation of the evaluation mission of the World Health Organization for the certification of malaria elimination in Azerbaijan, Reza Majidzade, a member of the mission, about the certification process carried out by the WHO on the elimination of malaria in Azerbaijan, the work done informed, they highly appreciated the strict compliance with the recommendations and requirements of the World Health Organization in our country. They shared their views on the ongoing monitoring of the epidemiological and entomological situation in this area.
