Azerbaijani Ombudsman makes appeal on war crimes committed by Armenia

The members of the Armenian armed forces have grossly violated the requirements of international law and international humanitarian law norms, including the Geneva Conventions of 1949 for the Protection of War Victims, and committed war crimes observed by torture and inhumanity to Azerbaijani civilians, military personnel, especially the wounded and dead, continue to commit such crimes, SİA reports citing Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan.

The inhuman acts committed by the Armenian military against the dead Azerbaijani soldiersshown in the videos circulated on social networks once again prove what is said once again:

It was noted that numerous videos confirm the facts about the brutal murder of Azerbaijani prisoners of war by Armenian servicemen during the first and second Karabakh wars by shooting at the head and heart at close range, looting, cutting into parts of the bodies of their servicemen, torturing and insulting by committing inhuman acts during the First and Second Karabakh War.

“The facts on those videos shared on several social media networks during the period of patriotic war, depicting war crimes committed against our military servicemen are collected by Ombudsman and brought to the attention of international organizations in the form of appeal, statements and reports, and this process is continued regularly.

Alongside putting forward unfounded territorial claims against Azerbaijan, conducting a policy of sharp hatred based on race, ethnicity, and religion instead of taking practical measures to prevent war crimes against our country and bringing to the responsible persons guilty of previous crimes, Armenia creates an obstacle to security and peace-building process in the region by allowing provocations.

Unfortunately, unlike Azerbaijan, the Armenian side does not conduct any investigations regarding such kinds of facts and does not implement their international obligations.

We once again bring these facts to the attention of the UN, the European Union, the Council of Europe and their institutions, and other competent international and regional organizations and call for immediate legal measures to bring to justice those who have committed crimes against peace and humanity committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan.”
