Slovakia ratifies protocols for Finland and Sweden's NATO accession

Slovak President Zuzana Caputova ratified the accession protocols for the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO on behalf of Slovakia on Wednesday, President’s spokesperson Martin Strizinec told TASR on the same day, according to SİA.

“With their defence capabilities, both Scandinavian countries will bolster the Alliance even more and boost our joint resilience. I’m most pleased to welcome our new allies,” stated Caputova.

Finland and Sweden appied for NATO membership on May 18. Turkiye first blocked the process but on June 29, Turkiye, Sweden and Finland signed a security memo that takes into account all of Ankara's concerns. Turkiye, in turn, withdrew its objections to the entry of these two European countries into NATO.
