Türkiye has issued the necessary warnings to the parties to the conflict - Russia and Ukraine - over attacks on ships in the Black Sea, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
Fidan made the remarks at a joint press briefing in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
He said the Russia-Ukraine war was also discussed during their meeting.
"Recent attacks on cargo ships in the Black Sea are a serious cause for concern. Unfortunately, there have also been fatalities among Azerbaijani and Turkish citizens. We are issuing the necessary warnings to the parties to the conflict on this matter. These contacts have been intensified further in recent days," Fidan said.
The minister also noted that the Russia-Ukraine war was having a serious impact on the global economy.
"Türkiye has made its position clear since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war. Work has been carried out to implement on the ground the position demonstrated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on this issue. We have held talks with the parties, and this work continues. This war is also causing major damage to the global economy," he said.
Fidan also stressed that the United States, Türkiye and other countries were continuing their efforts to end the war.
"We are meeting with the parties regarding the Black Sea, receiving responses and also putting forward proposals. There is now no place that is not being targeted. The war must stop to prevent it from expanding further. In my view, both sides are now psychologically exhausted as well. At such a time, countries playing a coordinating role are intensifying their efforts and contacts," he said.
