Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Türkiye exceeded $3.2 billion in the first eight months of 2026, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press briefing in Baku with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
Bayramov stressed that special formats exist to regulate the relations between the two countries.
"Cooperation is carried out through the Strategic Cooperation Council, political consultations, the economic cooperation commission and other platforms," he said.
The minister also highly praised the activities of Turkish companies in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
Bayramov added that at the current stage, the two countries have projects with major potential that are designed for the coming decades.
"Work is underway in this context. Among these projects, I should mention the transmission of alternative energy generated in Azerbaijan across the Black Sea, with Türkiye's participation, as well as a new energy cable connecting Nakhchivan with Türkiye. This project has enormous potential not only for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, but also for the European market," he said.
According to Bayramov, Azerbaijan and Türkiye are also implementing important projects in the transport sector.
The minister added that great importance is attached to meetings of the two countries' intergovernmental commission, where cooperation in humanitarian affairs, youth, sports and other areas is discussed.
