Azerbaijan plays an important role in the region, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini said during a joint press statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Shusha on July 14, SİA informs.
According to Pellegrini, Slovakia intends to build sincere cooperation with its partners:
"I am glad that Azerbaijan is among these partners. Azerbaijan is a country where transport hubs converge. Azerbaijan plays an important role in this region. As soon as the energy crisis began, Azerbaijan provided natural gas to Slovakia. This was a lifesaving moment for Slovakia."
Slovak president expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries will further strengthen in the future.
"Starting from October of this year, a direct air connection will be established between the two countries. This will once again bring our countries closer together. Currently, cooperation is growing at the level of universities and in business circles. Today, our delegation also includes the Minister of Economy. Tomorrow, there will be various meetings and new opportunities will emerge," he said.
