Azerbaijan welcomes the agreement reached between the US and Iran and hopes that further negotiations will contribute to strengthening peace and stability in the region, reads a statement by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SİA informs.
"We welcome the announced agreement reached on the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We highly appreciate the important mediating role of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the negotiation process, as well as other regional partners for their contributions.
We hope that further negotiations, building on this important outcome, will contribute to lasting peace and stability," reads the statement.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced an agreement between the US and Iran. He said the document is scheduled to be signed on June 19 in Switzerland, and the parties have already agreed to an immediate cessation of military operations.
