Türkiye expects Armenia to take bolder steps toward peace and regional normalization following the parliamentary elections, reads a declaration issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the elections held in Armenia on June 7.
According to SİA, the ministry expressed satisfaction that the elections were completed in a peaceful and secure environment.
"We hope that after the elections, Armenia will take bolder steps toward peace and normalization in the region. Türkiye will continue to contribute to regional stability and prosperity on the basis of common interests," the statement said.
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7. According to the final results, after 100% of the ballots were counted, the party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Civil Contract, received 49.83% of the vote.
The Strong Armenia party, associated with businessman Samvel Karapetyan, came in second with 23.28% of the vote. The Armenia Alliance, led by former President Robert Kocharyan, secured 9.93%.
