A delegation led by Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Head of the Central Office, visited China and met with Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, SİA informs, citing the YAP.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that thanks to the political will of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of YAP, and Xi Jinping, President of China and General Secretary of the CPC, relations have strengthened year by year and risen to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, serving the interests of both countries.
It was noted that Azerbaijan and China, as friendly nations pursuing independent policies, pay special attention to protecting each other's interests. The importance of Azerbaijan's firm support for the One China policy, based on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty under international law, was underlined. In turn, China's defense of Azerbaijan's just position, as one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, was described as a valuable example of reliable partnership.
The sides highlighted that amid high‑level political dialogue and intensive diplomatic contacts, deepening multifaceted cooperation in trade, transport and logistics, energy (including green energy), science, education, innovative technologies, culture, and humanitarian fields is a strategic priority closely monitored by the heads of state.
It was stressed that Azerbaijan, one of the first countries to support China's global Belt and Road initiative, has effectively used its favorable geographic position and transit potential between Asia and Europe, boosting the development of the Middle Corridor. The Zangazur Corridor project was noted as a new platform aimed at sustainable peace, reliable security, and multilateral cooperation in Eurasia.
The meeting also underlined that in the context of a transforming multipolar world order, the Azerbaijan‑China comprehensive strategic partnership is significant not only for bilateral relations but also for promoting sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation across Eurasia and the Global South.
Attention was drawn to the importance of Azerbaijan's peacebuilding efforts in the South Caucasus amid the crisis of international law.
The delegations stressed the importance of regular visits in assessing the current state of relations between the two countries and political parties, and in expanding the scope of cooperation.
The significance of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in November 2024 between YAP and the CPC was highlighted, with both sides noting that purposeful joint activities strengthen traditional friendship and serve common interests. Confidence was expressed that party diplomacy will continue to contribute to achieving future goals.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
