Azerbaijan is an important partner in the South Caucasus, Parliament member Fariz Ismayilzada said during a roundtable titled "President Ilham Aliyev's Peace Strategy – A Guarantee of Stability," organized by the Media Development Agency.
Ismayilzada said the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia open new opportunities for Yerevan.
"A new outlook will be formed in Armenia as a result of these elections. Present-day Armenia positions itself as a supporter of peace. However, there are forces within the country opposing the peace process. Various unfounded resolutions are being adopted against Azerbaijan, with the Armenian lobby playing an active role. Their goal is to undermine the peace process," the MP stated.
Ismayilzada also noted that external actors are showing interest in the South Caucasus and seeking to expand their influence in the region.
"Azerbaijan is a confident country that is not afraid of external pressure. The firm position of President Ilham Aliyev in this regard is well known to everyone," he added.
