Türkiye considers it its duty to take all necessary steps to ensure peace in the region without hesitation, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, SİA informs.
Speaking during a parliamentary group meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Erdogan stressed Türkiye's determination to keep itself away from the flames of conflict.
"If there is even the slightest hope to stop the bloodshed, silence the weapons, and resolve problems through diplomacy, it is our responsibility to seize it," he said.
The Turkish leader warned of the risk that the war could turn into an internal regional conflict: "Retaliatory strikes targeting energy, transport, and infrastructure facilities are fueling internal clashes in the region."
Erdogan added that since the beginning of the war, Türkiye's principled stance and its messages to the world and the region have represented the voice of humanity and conscience.
"The greatest opportunity for humanity to overcome this difficult situation is diplomacy and dialogue. Instead of insisting on maximalist demands, efforts should be made to reach common ground. Reason, conscience, international law, and justice all require this. Our hope is that a path to peace will open before more blood is shed. If necessary, we will continue our efforts with all our strength," the president noted.
