In accordance with the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America, the two countries are committed to expand cooperation in the fields of defense and military-technical affairs.
Under the document, Azerbaijan and the U.S. intend to expand the scope of their defense and security cooperation, including defense sales. Given their shared commitment to countering the scourge of terrorism, the parties intend to expand their existing counterterrorism cooperation.
According to the Charter, Azerbaijan and the U.S. intend to cooperate to increase capabilities in the field of cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.
Being mindful of serious challenges faced by the Republic of Azerbaijan due to contamination with landmines and other explosives, the parties also intend to cooperate in capacity building in humanitarian de-mining through financial support and technology transfer.
