Putin expresses hope for continued progress in Russia-Azerbaijan relations

Despite the tragic plane crash involving the Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) aircraft and the loss of its passengers, there has been no crisis in interstate relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a press conference following his official visit to Tajikistan, SİA reports.

According to local sources, Putin emphasized that economic cooperation between the two countries has continued to expand, while the recent tension was largely emotional in nature.

The Russian leader noted that the investigation required time and extensive technical work, including the search and decryption of “black boxes” and comparison of data from the Defense Ministry as well as air traffic control services in Russia and Kazakhstan. He added that the inquiry is nearing completion and its overall findings are clear. Cooperation between the two nations, he said, continues across logistics, industrial, and humanitarian spheres.

“I sincerely hope that we have turned this page. We will move forward and, without any complications, develop our contacts and implement the truly ambitious plans that both countries have,” Putin underscored.
