The exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners under a deal between Israel and Hamas could take place on October 13, US President Donald Trump told Fox News in an interview.
"Hostages are going to be released. <...> Would be probably Monday," Trump said, adding that "so much is happening to get the hostages freed." He also noted that the bodies of deceased hostages would be returned.
Earlier, the US president stated that representatives of Israel and Hamas had signed agreements on the first stage of the peace plan following negotiations in Egypt. According to Trump, this includes the release of all hostages in the near future and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to an agreed line within the Gaza Strip. He added that the first steps have been taken "toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace."
